Back to Basics

There's one thing I have absolutely come to love to shop for: basics. They're so essential in times when you just don't have the opportunity to look through your closet to find an outfit or when you can't find something to match an item you want to wear. A great basic has 3 requirements for me: comfort, a good fit and functionality. For this look, I threw together some of my favorite basics. The first is the ever-popular oversized shirt. I bought this one at H&M and it must be my 15th basic tee to date. I wear them under so many different types of cardigans, jackets and sweaters and it never disappoints. To pair this tee I went with my newest leggings which are actually fleece leggings I grabbed on the way out of a Levi store a few weeks ago. They have a sweater-type material on the inside and they are so think and comfortable. (I couldn't find these online but if you catch them at your nearest Levi store definitely make the purchase!). To give the outfit a little more interest I added my snake-print pointed flats from Target (similar) - I loved these so much I grabbed a half size smaller because they didn't have my size, ha! A great way to add a bit of sophistication to a casual outfit is to throw on your favorite scarf - whether it's patterned, oversized or textured. I got the one I'm wearing from H&M a few seasons ago in two different colors. I love the frayed edges and the overall thickness of it. So when it comes to basics, I say put them all together and give yourself some serious style and comfort.
